5.0"I had been experiencing some rather inconsistent (hard to diagnose) issues with very slight engine hesitations, particularly on cold starts, usually at slower speeds but also sometimes during acceleration at higher speeds. Stuart halped narrow down some of the issues and documented my comments. In the service bay, they came up with some ideas, he asked if they could keep it overnight and try to see if their diagnosis was correct and verify that they got the problem, which they did. For a less "symptomatic" problem, I felt they did a great job of finding the problem and resolving it. The issue was the timing chain pre-tensioners and they were replaced. I also appreciate Stuart's advice, I've always been a car guy and a backyard mechanic, so I always have a lot of questions about these little 4 cylinder motors and a lot of the mechanical workings of the Mini Cooper and he's always has great knowledge about the inner-workings." However, would like to have been told upfront that this checkup (the 30K mile one) would not be covered under warranty, which expired just two months ago. Ended up costing less than they estimated after I asked about it, and they found some things that needed fixing that were covered under warranty, still... Also would like to know if the coolant leak they fixed is related to a previous coolant leak we brought the car in for.
